As an avid, competitive golfer and physician, I was searching for the best, most time efficient way to stay in excellent physical condition and to prevent injury. I have been attending classes at IMX Pilates in Atlantic Highlands for over a year now and for 9 months of this year i have been pregnant. I recently gave birth to my daughter on June 2, 2010. I only gained 15 pounds during my pregnancy and 7 pounds 6 oz of it was the baby. I believe that IMX Pilates is the reason why I was able to stay toned and fit throughout my entire pregnancy without putting too much stress on the baby. The instructors were exceptionally knowledgeable in the technique I should be using during pregnancy and what activities I could participate in. I also believe this was the reason why I was healthy my entire pregnancy, no sickness or distress and my little girl was born healthy and happy. I was a marathon runner before pregnancy and normally supplemented my running with IMX pilates; however, when I became pregnant pilates became the sole form of exercise for me and it kept my sanity on top of all things. I highly recommend this form of exercise for anyone who is an avid runner to increase flexibility and reduce the risk of injury, I also highly recommend this form of exercise for anyone pregnant or thinking about becoming pregnant, There is no better way to stay healthy during pregnancy while being able to bounce back after giving birth. IM-X Pilates is the best total body workout you can get in an hour. It includes strengthening as well as lengthening and flexibility. Also after a lower back and then a hip injury I was able to use IM-X Pilates as an additional form of rehabilitation that was approved of by my physical therapist. I would ask my physical therapist which areas I should be working on and Lisa would incorporate those into our routines. This greatly sped my recovery and has helped prevent future injuries. Overall it has educated me on the correct body placement/alignment during all forms of exercise. Jane
